Juneau Extended Norris Glacier Dog Sledding Adventure

Excursion Overview

**THIS TOUR IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE 2024 SEASON**

Upon arrival at our seaside base on Douglas Island, you will be outfitted with glacier overboots and a floatation device. Our professional staff will provide a thorough safety briefing before helping you into one of our A-Star helicopters. Your pilot will choose one of many scenic routes to fly you to Musher's Camp, providing stunning views of the Tongass National Forest and Juneau Icefield along the way. You might even get lucky enough to spot wildlife or a calving glacier!

At the Musher's Camp, you will be greeted by your guide, a professional musher with years of dog sledding experience. During your 2.5 hours on the ice, learn about the history, lifestyle, and techniques of dog sledding, and experience personalized interactions with the dogs. This includes the option to assist with harnessing and booting the dogs, learning to drive the sled, and learning how to provide the best wellness care for the team. After covering the basics, you will go on a mush for up to four miles across the snow-capped Norris Glacier.

Upon return from mushing, enjoy the opportunity to assist in feeding your dogsled team a snack. You will also get a behind-the-scenes tour of Musher's Camp for a closer look at the glacier dog camp lifestyle. This hands-on extended tour is topped off with a light lunch prepared by the camp's chef before the helicopters return for your gorgeous flight back to base. There will be a brief opportunity to visit our gift shop and view your dogsledding photos before our comfortable vans escort you back to town.

This tour operates May-August.
