Your floatplane takes off from the water right in downtown Juneau in front of the cruise ship terminal. You will see the city as you take off from the water while listening to the history of the mining era. Your pilot will take you over picturesque landscape toward the 1,500 square miles of Juneau Icefield. As you soar through the skies you'll fly over the ocean, rivers, and rainforest on your way to the glaciers that surround Juneau. Though the icefield is massive, only 36 of the glaciers that comprise it are named, and far fewer are accessible. You will see the Norris, the Hole In The Wall, the East, the West, and the mightiest of them all, the Taku Glacier. Five miles wide at its base, the Taku Glacier is breathtaking, expanding, and well worth the wait.
