One of the main attractions of Juneau and one of the most spectacular sights that Mother Nature has to offer, is the world famous Mendenhall Glacier. One of the only glaciers that is accessible by road in Alaska, the Mendenhall is a must see for the whole family! You'll be amazed at the rugged 1.5 miles of ice that awaits you.
Included in your tour is entry into the Mendenhall Glacier Visitors Center where you can experience exhibits, photographs of the glacier through time, Forest Service staff to answer any questions you may have, and viewpoints to see the glacier from many angles. There is also an informative video that plays continuously throughout the day so you can explore at your leisure.
All of this adventuring is sure to stir up your appetite. The next step of this Juneau Mendenhall Glacier and Salmon Bake Tour is a trip to the wild Alaskan Salmon Bake. A spread of local seafood and various other entrees and sides means that there are options for everyone. Don't forget to grab a slice of blueberry cake before you wander to the waterfalls, make s'mores by the fire, or just settle in to listen to live Alaskan folk music.
Buses depart back to the pier every 15-20 minutes, so take your time and head back whenever you would like. There is plenty to see, and the buffet is all you can eat, so head back for seconds or thirds!
